Hello everybody. Can anyone tell me anything about the history of 21 Hallstile Bank? I moved in February 2019, and have been told it used to be a shop.

    Thanks, Jan Andrew.

    Hi Jan

No 21 was definitely a shop before being converted to residential a couple of years ago. Our records show that from 1971-75 it was a furniture warehouse for R Scott; from approx 1994-2000 it housed Harlequin, fancy dress and dancewear. It was then vacant for a while before briefly housing Minicom North East, selling computer equipment(2004/5). It then remained vacant until conversion. I’m afraid we have no information as to any earlier occupants – if you manage to find out anything else, we’d love to hear from you!

Thanks so much for that information. It’s a dear little quirky house, I especially love the beamed roof, even though I have to go downstairs to bed! 😂 If I find out anything else, I’ll post. Thanks again.
