Can anyone help with the date when much of the old House of Correction was demolished to make way for the expansion of the bus depot? We think it was around 1962 but would like to be more specific.

There should be a article in the Hexham Courant as there was a great deal of discussion about it at the time. If your date of demolition is correct United Bus Company would own it.

Just a further piece of information, there was a small shop at the end of it near to the burn. I think it sold groceries. I know you could get a glass of made up pop for 1d.
