Is there any evidence that the waste from the tanneries in Hexham was used to generate heat for the production of pineapples? I am researching the history of pineapple production in the garden at Capheaton Hall.

I’ve never heard of this practice but, given the entrepreneurial character of those concerned in the leather trade, I wouldn’t be at all surprised. However, the waste from the leather trade was fairly noxious!
