    Can anyone tell me the approximate population of Hexham 1750-1800 please?

    The town’s population in 1801 was 3427 (1500 males & 1927 females), a considerable increase from 1734 when the population was estimated at only 2000

    There is an article by Greg Finch in the Hexham Historian Number 31 (2021), pages 21-26, “An 18th Century Hexham ‘Census'”,that gives the best estimates of the town’s population from 1673 to 1801, and describes a document of 1740 that names all the families, and their sizes.
