[John Hewett]

On the south side of Hexham market square adjacent to the Shambles there is a white door between the jeweller’s shop and the stationery/card shop.
This door is locked and has a plaque above it referring to St Mary’s church.
Does anyone know where this door leads?

This door leads to residential flats above the shops. The church itself has long ago been subsumed into the later buildings now on the site.
