I am researching my 14th Great grandfather Sir Philip Wentworth (1424-1464 who was captured and executed after the Battle of Hexham during the War of the Roses. I am looking for any information on this from the people of Hexham. I will be visiting my girlfriend in Corbridge in April and will spend time in Hexham to do some onsite research.
Although the Wentworth family have owned a substantial amount of land in the local area, they were more a North Yorkshire family and had no real connection to Hexham – apart from Philip coming to his unfortunate end in the town.
