I believe a door photograph you have on file as 1 west end terrace is actually 9 west end terrace.

Thanks for your comment. There are two photos in the “Doorways” section CD3742 (1981) and CD3743 (1991) both labelled as No 1 West End Terrace. Having looked at No 9 via Google Maps Street View, it doesn’t look like the doorway in those photos. However, I’m told there is a basement door facing the Burn. We’re checking this out.

And you were (of course) right. Images now amended to indicate that this is the doorway to No 9, the basement. Thanks again.
