The clue photo (on the left above or first image) is from 1905, the building named Burncliffe on the West Road (B6531) heading out of Hexham. The image is looking W from the end of the bridge crossing the Cockshaw Burn. The building was occupied by Edward Robson, butcher and poulterer. 

The second image shows the building 80 years later, still Edward Robson’s butchers. You can just see the gable end of part of the Police Station on the rhs.

No longer a butcher’s shop, a more recent image of the building can be seen on Google Maps.
